The story does not begin in Toronto. It begins in Sora, a mountain town in central Italy, where stone houses hold to the hillsides and the bells of Santa Restituta have carried across the valley for centuries. Two ordinary people — Fiorino and Ida Parravano — found the extraordinary courage to leave everything they knew for the sake of the generations who would follow. Everything Domenico has built rests on the foundation they laid.
What followed was work. A train from Halifax. Patched jeans and paper routes. The long unglamorous middle of an immigrant's arrival, before anyone is watching. Domenico came up through construction, and then real estate, at exactly the moment Toronto began deciding what it wanted to become. He spent five decades on job sites and in boardrooms while the waterfront turned from industrial edge into skyline — and he had a hand in that turning.
